2017 Audi A9 Concept, Review

There are reports that Audi Prologue Concept, which was originally unveiled at Los Angeles Auto Show 2017, is a preview of new Audi A9, a range topping vehicle from the German auto manufacturer. Current lineup of Audi ranges from A1 to A8. If 2017 Audi A9 will actually release, it should be placed above the present A8. It will be most expensive and luxurious model to have ever been offered by Audi. There is still no official confirmation about launch of A9. All that Audi has to say about this matter is that this Prologue merely provides an idea of the revised styling language of Audi.

The Audi Prologue concept is undoubtedly one of the most interesting concept vehicles currently. Being originally built for previewing upcoming design language of the company, it has amazed all fans of Audi. With 2017 Audi A9, several people believe that this Prologue concept will be turned into a production version in the near future. Whether this is true or not, no one knows but you can get an idea of a possible Audi A9 from Prologue concept.

If you want to know how 2017 Audi A9 would look like, you could imagine the Prologue concept model with Audi A9 badge and a bit toned down chintz. Such a model should not be much different from the production model. The production model will certainly be a large vehicle and will be full of luxury. This gives a wide presence to the car and also a more intimidating appearance. 22 inch alloy wheels are on offer and the taillight design is pretty much similar to that of old Saab 9-5. Overall, 2017 Audi A9 certainly looks better than both A7 and A8.

Technological Features

This model has more technological features as well; the dashboard takes virtual cockpit of TT to a completely different level. There are three screens which display all sorts of information in a highly adjustable manner. It should serve to be very beneficial, typically when autonomous driving will be available.

A lot of inspired touches are available; the car can recognize passengers and drivers through their smartphones. The seats are also adjusted according to preference of the passenger. When passengers climb up, the rear headrests rise up and when no one is in the back, it retracts.

2017 Audi A9 also allows digital interaction between the front passenger and driver, the former interacts with the latter by sending information via swiping motions. Co-pilot gets their own display to scroll through with music. With all these features, it won’t be wrong to say that it’s a completely futuristic car.

2017 Audi A9 – Powertrain

There is no confirmation yet regarding the powertrain of production model. However, the concept vehicle is powered by a4 liter V8 petrol engine. It comes with Quattro All Wheel Drive System and generates 597 hp. Such type of output is similar to that of Ferrari 458 Speciale. This engine allows the 1980 kg, 5.1 meter Prologue to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph within 3.7 seconds. The company claims it to have a fuel economy of 32.8 mpg.

2017 Audi A9 – Price, Competition and Availability

The 2017 Audi A9 should compete against the likes of Bentley Continental GT Speed and Mercedes Benz S63 AMG. Since only the Prologue concept vehicle is available for now, there is no information at all regarding price and release date. However, there are rumors that it should be available sometime in 2017.
