The upcoming 2017 Audi Q5 will see the model getting a redesign and new engine configurations, on its existing version. These and other exciting new developments are making up for the latest news and updates available in the upcoming version. The introductory model of Q5 was very successful worldwide in the mid-SUV crossover segment, giving competition to Mercedes GLC, Land Rover Discovery LR5 and BMW X3.
2017 Audi Q5 – Exteriors and Interior
The major elements of a redesign will be incorporated to its exterior. Audi bosses have decided, the 2017 Q5 will be lighter, more compact than the previous edition, but at the same time stockier and more muscular. Audi’s last minute decision to use their new MLB-Evo architecture to redesign it makes the SUV lose about 220 lbs of weight from its previous version.
The interiors for 2017 Audi Q5 will be based on the TT model. Minor changes will be made on the TT’s interior setup to finish the Q5. Although the body-frame has been reduced, legroom and boot space inside has actually been increased, thanks again to their MLB-Evo architecture.
Latest News and Updates
In all the latest news and updates on the 2017 Audi Q5, it has been spotted running test drives on a highway in Spain, which is ideal to test this new Q5’s ability to withstand rough weather and treacherous roads. Audi officials have confirmed that the Q5 will hit assembly at their new production plant, in Mexico. Audi has switched from their old manufacturing facility in Ingolstadt in Germany, and will move to a massive new plant in San José Chiapa, Mexico.
Audi is set to make a lot of profit from that plant, which will start off with an assembly production capacity of 150,000 units annually. It will also create at least 20,000 new jobs in and around the locality. This move increases their annual assembly capacity and Audi heads have declared they will assemble the Audi Q5 from this plant.
There is no current news to indicate when and exactly where 2017 Audi Q5 will get launched, but since its assembly will roll out of its new production plant in Mexico, experts have been speculating that it may debut at any major motor show in North America.
