2017 Audi S4 Specs, Price

In the recent past, auto manufacturers Audi have been improving its lineup of vehicles slow and steady. They have been using the traditional design and brought just enough updates to it for mixing it up a bit. However, there are still some models which haven’t received this kind of update. An example of such models would be S4, which until recently was not redesigned. Now, 2017 Audi S4 is a part of the lineup of redesigned models, which also includes 2017 Audi Q7, 2017 Audi R8 and 2017 Audi A4. It is not at all surprising that this new model arrived just a few months after the redesigned A4 model was unveiled by German auto manufacturers. Just as one would expect, it is a better version of compact sedan that lies between a standard A4 and upcoming 2017 Audi S4. Just like other redesign of Audi models, the appearance of this upcoming model is accompanied by updated technology, improved interiors along with an engine that is much more powerful.

2017 Audi S4 – Appearance and Design

Since 2017 Audi S4 is mainly based on the new A4, it makes use of all design elements present in it. Thus, it will have sharper body and more aerodynamic capabilities. As compared to its predecessor, this new car will be a bit larger and much more aggressive than the previous models. Its drag coefficient shall also be much identical to that of A4.

This model also features new headlamps, which are more angular in shape. Other than that, redesigned grille and new LED pattern are amongst the exterior changes. Hood is also slightly revised and it has subtle creases towards fenders. All these features are similar to that of A4; it is the bumper which makes it different from A4. This bumper is bolder and its low section is revised with better side intakes and bigger splitter.

The changes brought to sides of 2017 Audi S4 include aluminum mirror caps, redesigned side skirts and black window trim. Rims of 18 inches are available while 19 inch rims are offered optionally. The car is lowered by almost an inch by its sports suspension. Large trunk lid spoilers and twin exhaust pipes are the elements which enhance rear fascia.

Interior Changes

Interior of 2017 Audi S4 will be similar to that of A4 model, just like its exterior. The new and redesigned cabin features a dashboard which is much cleaner and it features redesigned center stack and continuous air vent strip. Positioning of infotainment controls makes them closer to center console. At top of the dashboard, there is a new color display of 8.3 inches. Both MMI controls and steering wheel of 2017 Audi S4 is based on Audi Prologue.

Safety Features

Just as you would expect from any premium car, this new S4 is loaded with great driver assistance and safety systems. Some of these features include rear and front airbags, adaptive cruise control, active lane assistance, parking assistance, traffic jam assistance, collision avoidance assistance, cross traffic assistance and exit warning. To round off the features, there is a camera based recognition system for traffic signs.

Just like one would expect, this new model will be retained the 3 liter V6 engine. However, this engine will be new and it will using turbo instead of supercharger. Output of this engine will be 354 HP and 369 lb ft of torque. So, as compared to its previous model, 2017 Audi S4 will have 21 Hp and 44 lb ft more. It is also quicker than previous model, as it can accelerate to 62 mph from 0 mph within 4.7 seconds, while its top speed is 155 mph.

Significant changes will also be brought to its transmission departments. Manual transmission will not be available any longer. This new S4 rather comes with an 8 speed automatic transmission as standard. All Wheel Drive system will be used as usual.

2017 Audi S4 – Competitors and Pricing

Among the several competitors, the 2017 Audi S4 will mainly be competitor of 2015 BMW 3 series and 2016 Mercedes-Benz C450. With expected release date in 2017, the starting price will be in range $40,400 to $50,000.
