These new batteries are quite highly efficient, with 90% efficiency. They will enhance the power of the engine from 22 kWh to 30 kWh, thus effecting in the increase of electric range from 80 miles to 120 miles.
As for the primary energy source, 2017 BMW i3 has a 2.4 gallon gas tank which will be reduced to 1.9 gallons for the US versions in order to satisfy the criteria of California Resource Board for a BEVx car. This car is going to hit the markets by late-2016.
