2017 Buick Verano Specs, Price

The Verano sedan was introduced by Buick three years back as its smallest passenger car. It was introduced as 2013 model year, which marked the first generation of this model. With 2017 Buick Verano, the company will launch second generation of this compact passenger car. This upcoming Verano will be longer yet much lighter than its predecessor. It will also have more interior space and more fuel-efficient. Buick will offer it in both hatchback and sedan styles.

2017 Buick Verano – Body Style Changes and other Options:

This model was already unveiled in China at 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. However, the model shown at this auto show is specifically designed for Chinese market, where it will be available under Wei Lang label. The model of US market is likely to be mostly the same as the one shown at Shanghai Auto Show, but there will be a few differences in terms of features and styling.

This overhauled vehicle is likely to have a lot in common with 2016 Opel Vauxhall Astra K Sedan. Therefore, this new Verano Buick will be based on a new global compact D2XX platform from GM, just like Opel Vuaxhall Astra K range. Second generation Chevrolet Cruze also shares this platform. Thanks to this D2XX platform, second generation 2017 Buick Verano will lose a significant amount of weight, as compared to its predecessor, which used Delta II platform of GM. This reduction in weight will certainly improve the handling and fuel economy of this vehicle, the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is an example of this aspect.

Exterior and Interior Changes:

Changes in platform are likely to be overlooked by most of the customers. Therefore, it is no surprise that exterior of the second gen Verano will be getting most noticeable changes. This vehicle will be wearing an all new sheet metal, which will be a resemblance of evolved design language from Buick. Furthermore, it will also increase in terms of size and interior space, just like the new Chevrolet Cruze which also uses same platform. With larger interior, 2017 Buick Verano will also feature improved interior design and better material. Just like the Chinese market Verano model, North America market should also be using latest technology in its infotainment system along with active drive assistance and safety systems.

2017 Buick Verano has announced that styling of this new Verano will be inspired by 2013 concept of Riviera model and also recent Avenir model. Front end features signature waterfall grill from Buick and it is complemented by wing-shaped headlights, which is also available in Avenir model. This headlight will feature LED daytime running lights. Rear end has a steep windshield that joins streamlined C-pillar curves and fastback roof. To add to this stylish appearance, Buick offers integrated dual exhaust tips and 10 spoke aluminum wheels of 17 inches.

2017 Buick Verano – Powertrain Specification:

It is expected that second generation 2017 Buick Verano will replace the engine found under the hood of current model with a smaller and more efficient unit. Current Verano is powered by a 2.4 liter four-cylinder unit in its base trim, with 180 HP of output. Turbo trim of present model gets a 2 liter turbo four unit capable of generating 250 HP. As of now, there is no precise information about the powertrain of upcoming model, but it won’t be surprising if it comes with a turbocharged 1.4 liter of 1.5 liter Ecotec engine. 2 liter LTG I4 will likely replace the 2 liter LHU I4 of current model as a potential higher level power plant.

If Chinese market variant is to be considered an indication, it offers only one engine choice. 2017 Buick Verano comes with a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder unit capable of generating 166 HP and 184 lb ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and power is sent to front wheels only.
