Under General Motors, the famed luxury car maker Cadillac is all revamped to come out with 2017 Cadillac CT6. This is going to be their brand new entry-level sedan. Cadillac is on to the mission of releasing a slew of cars by 2020. Their market is going to widen and they are looking forward to sell their best to car enthusiasts like yourself. Named as Cadillac Touring 6, abbreviated as CT6 is one such series which is going to focus on weight saving, technologies like the Advanced Plug-in Hybrid and the Super Cruise technology.

This super luxury sedan along with Cadillac’s CTS is going to be the two models under General Motors which will come under the latest technology of semi-autonomous driving. Called the Super Cruise technology of semi-autonomous driving, this is definitely going to make you curious about its working.
Cam Saraydar, GM’s Director of Electrical and Control Systems Research Lab has clarified about this latest technical up gradation at Detroit’s Autonomous Car Conference 2015. According to him the 2017 Cadillac CT6 will be completely differ from any other autonomous driving car. It is going to offer the driver a completely different ambiance of driving. Hands can be completely kept off the steering wheel.
This will make driving an entire new experience. Although things are under wraps but as per inner speculations, one can also keep off his or her feet from the pedal as well.
It is a feature which is not currently available with any other top class sedans of Mercedes-Benz or Audi. Although, only Volvo is one such company which makes the driver enjoy hands free car driving. But this can be done only in traffic. But, 2017 Cadillac CT6 will be one such extravagant car which will provide this mode of driving in highways also.
What will Advanced Hybrid Plug-in technology do to CT6?
This is going to help the sedan emanate zero tailpipe discharges. It will also make the car run on complete electric charge for 30 miles approximately. After this an on-board engine produces electric power. The electric drive will be smooth helping the vehicle propel to 60 mph in around 5.3seconds. This technology has also made General Motors work up on the battery of its cars.
2017 Cadillac CT6 will consist of lithium-ion battery having capacity of 18.4 kWh. It is located just overhead the car’s rear axle.
The system has 192 prismatic pocket cells which will use Cadillac’s confirmed Active Thermal Control Organization. This helps in maintaining the electric range over the life of the battery system.
2017 Cadillac CT6 – Engine Options
There will be a complete rear wheel drive with electrical variable transmission system. Two motors EVT structure is combined with 2liter four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine. This produces 335 hp and a torque of 432 lb-ft. Each motor yields a power of 100 hp.
When the car runs exclusively on electricity it has a driving range of 30 miles and 75 mph. with the additional power it can run up to 150 mph.
Is CT6 offering operating modes to the buyers?
Yes. You will get a total of three modes of operation in 2017 Cadillac CT6. They are:
- Hold mode: this allows the driver to choose when the engine is used by CT6 PHEV. This reserves the battery charge which can be used for later purposes.
- Normal mode: this is for everyday usage. This offers maximized fuel economy, EV range, and ideal performance to the driver and optimum comfort to the travellers.
- Sport mode: this is for the users who need belligerent torque resistance. This gives a firmer steering response and enhanced off-the-line sense.

As Cadillac is claiming that the car is going to be lightweight, so it is going to compete with the likes of Audi A6 and BMW 5-series.
