The mid-sized Sedan Kia Optima has been under production since 2000 and is among the most popular model manufactured by the South Korean company. Ever since its initial entry to the market, it has gained and maintained a lot of popularity. While it is designated as Kia K5 in Asian markets, its sibling model technically is Hyundai i40. It has been carrying different nameplates globally since its initial arrival. First generation of this model was mostly sold under the name of Optima but in European and Canadian markets, where sale began in 2002, the name Kia Magnetis was used. For the second generation, Optima name was retained in Malaysia and United States whereas Kia Lotze and K5 was used in South Korean markets. Everywhere else, Magnetis nameplate was used.
