The Land Rover Discovery is a luxury mid-size SUV, manufactured by British automaker Land Rover. The first generation vehicles hit the market in 1989, followed by successive generations over the period. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery LR5 (fifth generation vehicle) will be showcased in the European Auto Show by the end of 2016 or early 2017.

The LR5 will be much larger than current 4th generation models, thus accommodating 5+2 passengers, and a large cargo area, which can further be increased once rear seats are folded. It will feature a more urban look unlike the rough all-terrain look of current generation models, making it more appealing. Design modifications include slim horizontal headlamps associated with daytime LED running lights and laser diodes, which offer an illumination range of 300 meters. The urban design is more aerodynamic, offering better performance. The rear passenger doors are rear-hinged, eliminating the middle pillar. This new design also features slimmer LED tail lamps and a more imposing appearance.
This 2017 Land Rover Discovery LR5 has been provided with an enlarged 8-inch touch-screen user interface, which controls the infotainment system and other car controls, which can be connected and controlled by a smartphone. A state of the art heads up display allows better driving experience, coupled with JLR’s advanced Jaguar Virtual Windscreen, transparent hood and Smart Assist Technology, which allows better driving controls. The new Ingenium engine features computer controlled operations such as oil pressure, engine temperature, piston cooling and other mechanical changes also allows for better vehicle performance. The advanced Driving Assist package includes Surround Camera System, Smart Alternator, air suspension and Terrain Response System.
2017 Land Rover Discovery LR5 – Engine Specs
The fifth-generation model will be available in newly developed JLR Ingenium engine family, which will come in both gasoline and diesel variants. The LR5 model will be available with a gasoline powered 3 liter V6 engine, a gasoline powered 5 liter V6 engine, a 2.7 liter and 3.0-liter diesel-powered engine options. There is a probability that this car will use a hybrid system, featuring the Ingenium engine. This engine is based on a 0.5 liter per cylinder aluminum block, allowing it to be 17 percent more efficient and 80 kg lighter than those it aims to replace.
