The 2017 Volvo XC60 is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Swedish premium automaker. The first generation production model was launched in 2008, and was based on Volvo P3 platform. The 2017 Volvo XC60 is scheduled to get major changes in design and minor engine modifications.
2017 Volvo XC60 – Exterior and Interior Design
The new 2nd generation XC60 will be based on same chassis as current generation models are based; the car will feature reshaped LED head lights, large air intake grilles, an aggressive front bumper and an ups wept belt line. The car retains its old logo on grilles, along with a shorter side profile.
Interiors clearly show the introduction of a large cargo area, and a seating arrangement for 5 adults. The cargo space can further be increase by folding of rear passenger seats. Cabin will feature a modern touch in technology packages and other features such as upgraded infotainment system for front seat passengers as well as rear seat passengers. The 2017 Volvo XC60 sits higher than current generation models on a taller body kit. The cabin features a tasty black color and an upgraded dashboard with heads up display. Interiors get a sporty look with the presence of a huge sunroof.
The dashboard of the new 2017 Volvo XC60 has been upgraded, and slightly angles towards driver. The cabin is equipped with a large TFT touch interface display which allows access to all the car’s vital functions.
Other features include vacation management system, power front side chairs, USB connection and wireless satellite TV. Tunnel detecting head lamps, auto rainfall sensitive wipers, rear view camera and a 650 Watt Dynaudio speakers are other features included in technology package.
Traditional Volvo safety features include a whiplash protection system, roll stability control, side impact protection system, dynamic stability and traction control, hill descend control for 4 wheel drive models, inflatable curtain airbags, collision warning with brake support and a City Safety system.
2017 Volvo XC60 – Power Plant and Transmission parameters:
- The 2nd generation XC60 will be driven by a 2.4 liter 3 cylinder gasoline powered engine, capable of producing 240 horsepower at 258 lb ft of torque. Some speculations say that the car may be equipped with Volvo’s next generation Drive-E engine family, which features impressive power figures and a host of advanced technologies.
- The 2017 Volvo XC60 is generally available in 4 wheel drive and front wheel drive configuration; however, transmission system varies with each country. The US models are equipped with 6 speed Geartronic transmission, while Canadian models have 6 speed automatic transmissions. The 4 wheel drive variants are predominantly equipped with Haldex Traction kits.
- Next generation Drive-E family engines, if installed on new generation XC60’s, will be coupled with a new 8-speed automatic transmission in US markets.
The new engine and transmission systems promise a better fuel efficiency, though exact fuel economy is not known yet. It will have a tank capacity of 60 liters. The car has achieved a Euro 5 rating from European Emission Standards.

The new Volvo XC60 2017 will be available in showrooms from late 2016, with a price tag of $36,000 up to $45,000.
