For the last 12 years we waited for the other Volvo XC90 and after all, we can say that the wait was worth it. This new Volvo SUV brings something new, and something new is enough to beat Audi Q7. If there is a car for which we can say that with one generation was present in two centuries, then its name can only be a 2017 Volvo XC90. Well, maybe we went a little too far with the numbers, but we think that for 12 years the original model is too much, even for this car manufacturer. At the beginning of this article, we on purpose do not use the term‘’Swedish manufacturer’’, because this company has long been in the hands of Chinese Geely Group, and it is a change of ownership influenced the slower development of the second edition of the Volvo XC90.
2017 Volvo XC90 – Exterior and Interior
Are the Swedes and Chinese in late? Considering your votes and impressions that the 2017 Volvo XC90 left on our jury-it was worth it to wait 12 years. Although the 5-6 cm shorter than the new Audi Q7, which is also fed into the final selection, 2017 Volvo XC90 really looks huge and impressive. What cause a Wow effect is the new front grille and LED headlights originally designed which Volvo call Thor’s hammer. On the premium impression which cabin leaves on the driver should not waste words. It is sufficient to say that this Swedish car company exceeded our expectations. Of course, there is a third row of seats that is surprisingly spacious. Persons up to 170 cm in height will have no problem with a space for legs and head.In addition to the spacious interior, XC90 in the tradition of Volvo offers conformable suspension that does a great job at bad road sections, as well as on the track. As expected, the emphasis is on uncompromising comfort and is not surprising that the jury members gave comments on the not very active and direct steering wheel. True, it has successfully passed all of our tests, but remained impression that this part of the development was neglected.
2017 Volvo XC90 – Engine and Performance
On the other hand, everybody were delighted with the performance of this almost two-ton 2017 Volvo XC90. Under the massive hood its place have found only four-generators, one gasoline and diesel, of course with the inevitable hybrid version (combination with a gasoline-engine).Working volume of both engines is a two-liter, with fact that petrol can develop 320 HP and turbo diesel respective 225 HP. By year’s end, the pallet will be expanded with two motors which will be weaker but also more economical. It is T5 turbo petrol engine with 225 HP and D4 diesel which will likely develop 190 HP. With no mistake, all the engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which is standard equipment, as well as all-wheel drive. Transmission does its job quietly and without jolts, so the ride in the long run is real pleasure. When it comes to performance, gasoline is certainly an advantage, while the advantage of diesel is reflected in lower consumption, but also somewhat less noise while driving.
2017 Volvo XC90 – Price and Release Date
After counting the votes and the results of testing, 2017 Volvo XC90 is slightly ahead of the Audi Q7, while inconclusive Land Rover Discovery sport fall on the third position. We are not thrilled with 2017 Volvo XC90, but for that little difference was better than the Audi Q7, which is also a fantastic car. In the end, perhaps ruled the price, because XC90 is slightly cheaper than German rival. Starting price for the version with the D5 diesel engine (225 HP) is $ 68,640 while the model with 7 seats is $ 1,600 more expensive.
